When a friend mentioned that Brown Skin Books was publishing women's erotica I thought ‘Why not?’ Sex is a subject I find immensely fascinating, pleasurable and emotionally fraught with tension. Ideal material for fiction! I’ve written before but nothing consciously erotic. It wasn’t difficult to come up with ideas – all I had to do was talk to friends, eavesdrop on conversations in clubs, bars and restaurants and even on public transport (it’s amazing what people will discuss on mobile phones!). The real difficulty came with sitting down to write that first erotic scene, drawing so much from personal experience.

Then I remembered that none of you will know who I am, so, it doesn’t matter how much of myself I reveal. There are, of course, enough clues in Personal Business for my very closest friends to unmask Isabel Baptiste, but I’ve told them anyway! In fact, they were eager to contribute ideas and suggestions and to read the first drafts!
